The Duke University Archives is the official repository for records of Duke University, and the gateway to its past. The role of the Archives is to identify, acquire, manage, and preserve university records of enduring value and make them available for use in accordance with policies approved by the Board of Trustees, the administration, and the faculty.
The majority of the University Archives staff will be moving to the Smith Warehouse on August 4th. For the week before and after the move, our response to records transfer requests may be slower than usual. Reference requests and access to collections should not be disrupted. Our reading area continues to be the Dalton-Brand Reading Room, 103 Perkins Library; enter at the old tower entrance off the quad.
Renovations to the Library require that we store many of our collections offsite. To ensure that records you want to use will be available, please contact us before you visit.
