  • The fee for the room is $350 for half-day rental, $600 for any portion more than 4 but less than 8 hours.  If your event requires the use of the entire library (or the closing of the library), the cost is $1000 and requires administrative approval.

  • Wooden furniture and objects of art must not be moved either within the room or removed from the room. Upholstered furniture  may be moved only with prior agreement.  We require the Duke approved mover, DeHaven's North American Van Lines, to move and store this furniture exclusively at the renter's expense.  The DeHaven's phone number is 220-6683.

  • Groups must not create excessive noise outside of the Thomas Room.  Two members of each group will be identified as noise monitors to work with Lilly staff to enforce this policy.

  • Food is allowed for receptions, etc., in the Thomas Room.  Please keep refreshments in the Thomas Room.

  • If food is served, the renter or caterer must provide their own serving tables.  The black study tables or other table surfaces in the Thomas Room are not suitable for food service.

Multimedia Project Studio (MPS) (Room 115)

  • The MPS is governed by Student Technology Services, and includes industry standard software and hardware for multimedia production, photo editing, video editing, and audio projects.

The principal use of any Duke Library is in service to the teaching and research community.  Because of this, room use must not interfere with any of our primary users.  Lilly Library reserves the right to decline any reservation not in the interest of the Library or the University.
