Facilities

The Music Library and Music Media Center occupy 5000 sq ft on two levels, with print collections (periodicals, reference, books, scores, and print reserves) upstairs in Biddle 113 and media collections (CDs, LPs, DVDs, VHS and audio cassettes, microforms, and media and score reserves) are located on the lower level in Biddle 027.

The Music Library has:

• Photcopier (copies are $.07/page with a copy card or Duke FLEX or $.10/page cash)
• Four Internet terminals
• Free black and white printing (no e-print or color printing in the building--but color and e-print jobs can be sent to Lilly Library)
• Wireless access (check with OIT to get your laptop registered)
  

The Music Media Center has:

14 computer workstations (Macs and PCs) with:

• CD and DVD multi-listener playback capability
• VHS, audiocassette, and laser disc playback (not at all stations)
• Internet access
• RealAudio and QuickTime for streaming media playback
• Amadeus, Audacity, and SoundHack software for sound editing
• MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks
• Finale software for creating music manuscripts
• Free black and white printing (no eprint or color printing)

2 workstations with LP and 78rpm playback capability

In addition, the Media center has

• Overhead plasma screen for DVD and video display, can be used with headphones or wall speakers
  • Use Policy for the Plasma Screen
• Instructor's station that can project to plasma screen and includes laptop hookup
• MIDI keyboard controller that can be used with the Finale and Sibelius stations for input
• Microform reader/printer

The Media Center does not currently have any duplication or reformatting capabilities. If you are in need of these services, please contact the Center for Instructional Technology, the OIT ATS Multimedia Project Studio, or Duke University Media Services (although not mentioned on their web site the Media Services office can reformat LPs as well).
